The use of picture frames is prevent throughout the text. There are always pictures that start flashbacks, or can be seen in the background in many books. These pictures seem to be extremely important when in page 16 it shows them, when they are younger and pans to the old unused costumes that are on the younger versions. We can see a different picture that is used as a pinpointed moment, like in No. 3 when Dr. Manhattan leaves for Mars. Chapter VII the picture from the beginning in the office appears again in the background. (247) I like focusing on the pictures and the different avenues in which they are used in the background. Alan Moore uses all of the details that are hidden within consistencies. Page 412 flashes back to the same picture as the book comes to a close. This time it is directly referenced, unlike the other examples when it is there but not the focus. This can be seen with all the uses of the yellow circle. The moon, button, watches and multiple reflections use a lot of circles.
Watchmen seems to be constantly involved in change. The change of the world with wars, or the accidents that happen to change the characters. The pieces are always moving and adapting. The characters are constantly developing. The world is always in a state of unrest and there are not any particular moments that are ever stopped. The changes with identity as characters such as Dr. Manhatten changes his name, and Laurie adopts a different personality.
